Michelin 2026 North West results: new stars, promotions and full list

Michelin 2026 launch in Dublin.

Last updated:
21:25 – Feb 9th 2026

Tonight (February 9th) marks the annual Michelin awards for UK & Eire, this time in Dublin, the very pinnacle of culinary recognition for chefs.

And one might think that being a Michelin inspector is all glamour, after all you get to eat in some of the best restaurants.
Michelin have revealed that inspectors eat, on average, 270 meals a year in a blog post citing their ‘Most memorable meals of 2025‘, sadly none of the culinary destinations in the North West made that list.

But it once again reinforces what Michelin have said for decades, they are only assessing the food for Michelin stars. See our post on Michelin stars 2025 for our experience.

We have highlighted the new stars, any promotions, and any restaurants that dropped off the list, then included a clean, up-to-date directory by star level. Michelin stars are awarded for what happens on the plate and, crucially, how consistently it happens over time. That consistency is built on people, which is why the announcements tend to trigger movement in the hiring market within days.

What Michelin is judging

Michelin stars are awarded for what happens on the plate and how consistently it happens.

In practical terms, inspectors are looking for:

  • Ingredient quality and cooking skill
  • Flavour, balance, and clarity of the dishes
  • Consistency over time and across the menu
  • A recognisable point of view from the kitchen

That is why results often correlate with staffing stability, prep standards, and pass leadership.

What the Michelin 2026 results mean for hiring in the North West

The Michelin list is not just a badge. It changes the labour market.

The next 4 to 8 weeks

Expect immediate movement in:

  • Chef de Partie and strong Commis pipelines
  • Pastry
  • Senior section FOH and assistant managers
  • Sommeliers and wine service, where relevant

Why teams wobble after announcements

  • Higher cover counts and scrutiny arrive fast
  • Standards tighten, mistakes feel louder
  • Candidates start taking calls from competitors

How operators can protect standards

  • Audit rota risk: sections with single points of failure
  • Lock down trial shift process so it is fast and decisive
  • Set a retention plan for your top 20 percent, not the average
  • Benchmark pay and hours honestly, then communicate clearly

How candidates should play it

  • Lead with consistency and section ownership, not “I can graft”
  • Be specific about volume, station, and pass exposure
  • Choose kitchens where development is structured, not improvised
